Wines from a good family

How it all started

The Pittnauer family business exists for three generations already. It was founded by Matthias Pittnauer in 1960. At that time, the family was primarily busy in mixed farming.

Together with his wife Adele, Gerald Pittnauer converted the business into a winery. His aim was to produce wines at a top level. He wanted to create individual, characteristic wines without bells and whistles. Wines that are typical for the grape variety.

With Barbara Pittnauer, the third generation jumped in. After school, she initially worked at the wine lab in Gols. Today, she is responsible for vinification, the maintenance of the vineyards and for sales and customer care.

This is what the winery stands for today

The Pittnauer winery combines tradition with innovation. The steadily increasing quality is achieved by intense care of the vines, strict quantity reduction as well as harvest by hand and immediate processing. Modern cellar technology helps additionally to get the best out of the grapes.
The red wines of Pittnauer family are gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Before the malolactic fermentation, they are filled in big wooden barrels. Only the Blaufränkisch matures in Barrique barrels – all other red wines are made the classic style.
The white wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks with regulated temperatures. This is where they age as well in order to get their freshness, fruitiness and finesse.

White wines dominate at Pittnauer winery. They come either in fruity and light or in powerful and full-bodied styles. The red wines present themselves in a dense, elegant and varietal way.
  • Sparkling wines: La Passion en Rouge, La Passion
  • Rosé: Rosé
  • White wines: Prima, Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc Herrnwald
  • Red wines: Syrah, St. Laurent, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir Selection, Blaufränkisch
  • Sweet wines: Neuburger Spätlese, Welschriesling Trockenbeerenauslese, Welschriesling ice wine
The Pittnauer winery also produces brandy and different varieties of schnapps from apricots, vineyard peaches, quinces, sour cherries, green nuts as well as „Obstler“ and sour cherries in brandy.

From May to July, the Pittnauers organise wine tastings inthe vineyards. What more beautiful is there than walking through the vineyards and tasting some great wines in an airy environment?
Tastings in the vineyards are only possible upon advance notification (seven days ahead of the preferred date) and can be booked for at least two and up to 15 persons.
