How it all started 

The roots of the winery go back for many decades. Due to the great climate around Lake Neusiedl, family Wendelin is engaged in viticulture for many generations already. 

The corner stone of today’s family business was laid by Paul Wendelin close to the turn of the century. In the 1930s, a part of the company was handed over to Matthias Wendelin, who lead the business until 1957. Then, his son Georg Wendelin took over and started to modernise the winery. 

Since the 1990s, Matthias Wendelin manages the company. He expanded the winery to a size of 12.5 hectares and improved the equipment in order to allow the production of high quality wines.

The positive liaison of many years of experience, tradition and the esprit of the young generation can be recognised in many areas of the winery. It results in increased quality of the products, receptiveness to innovation and an intense relationship with customers.
 
Matthias Wendelin takes the risk of a late and small harvest just to use the full potential of the grapes’ natural aromas. The main aim of family Wendelin is to put a lot of effort and care into the vinifaction of expressive, characteristic, harmonious and individual wines typical for the variety.
 
The winery of family Wendelin is managed according the rules of integrated production and organic standards. 

Wines 

  • White wines: Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Weißburgunder, Chardonnay
  • Red wines: Blauer Zweigelt (semi dry), Blauer Zweigelt (dry), Blaufränkisch, St. Laurent, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Neusiedlersee DAC, Cuvée Heideboden, Cuvée Salzberg, Cuvée Loam, Blauer Zweigelt - Golser Salzberg
  • Sweet wines: Traubengold Spätlese, Trockenbeerenauslese 98, Trockenbeerenauslese 91 

Specialities 

The special conditions in the region in and around Gols allow a high ripeness of various fruits. By distilling the pure fruits, marc and by producing brandy, family Wendelin found a way to preserve and refine the special aromas of the fruits.
 
Other special products of the house are the quince vinegar (a fermented vinegar) and the red grape juice, an unfiltered, not-from-concentrate juice made of freshly pressed grapes.
