Weingut Birgit & Helmuth Renner

Away from being winemaker – back to being winegrower

How it all started

1928, Karl Renner laid the foundation for the Renner winery. Today, Birgit and Helmuth Renner are the third generation. They took over the winery in 1988 and seek to make the company fit for the international competition.

This is what the winery stands for today

Birgit and Helmuth Renner cultivate approx 14 hectares of vineyards in Gols, at the Parndorf Plain and its hillsides. The aim is to simply make good wine. Moving away from being winemaker to being winegrower again, the Renners started to reflect on their roots.

With the harvest 2009, the Renner family decided to switch to organic biological cultivation. Years of insecticide- and pesticide-free treatment as well as composting were the basis for this step. So, 2012 was the first bio-certified harvest.

The Renner family wants to produce complex, multi-faceted and distinctive wines with a character typical for the region. Their main focus is clearly on red:
  • Red wine: Blaufränkisch Altenberg, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Alter Weingarten, Heideboden, Pannobile
